Just reinstalled the game
I saw a trailer for GW2 and I thought "hey, I remember playing that years ago" - a trip to the game website and an hour of downloading/remembering passwords later I'm standing in the Temple of Ages on my old ranger. Ahh memories.
It had been somewhere between 2-3 years since I last played the characters. I remember having quit because a friend begged me into going to WoW instead and sometime after I bought the preorder to GW:EN and played on the open weekend or w/e before it's launch just to see if GW had added enough to spark my interest again..it hadn't so I uninstalled. When I logged in every character had 2-3 birthday gifts waiting, even the temp pvp-only characters lol. Including one 5 yr one. I think in spare time later I may look up newer hero-team builds (2 years of skill tweaks I know must have changed the build-atmosphere) and finish out my ranger's elite skill hunter titles, he was short like 7 from factions, and a few from original. Don't have GW:EN so I end there I think. lol Anyway, point of the thread is basically hey - after many years Im one of those players that comes back around to his games. hows things been these years? lol |

I remember you.
Game balance hasn't really gotten any better since Nightfall, if you were wondering. Meta builds are documented at gw-memorial.net. There aren't any new elites that count towards your title in EotN afaik.

Mesmers got a HUGE buff. I don't know about GvG, as I sailed that boat last summer, but mesmers were seldom used then. I'm not sure about now, But I'm sure they are used frequently.

Mesmers are now popular everywhere due to skill changes that gave them AoE damage.
You might want to get a copy of EotN and start your HoM. It will let you reserve character names for GW2 and some other benefits that we should be learning about in the next few months. You can also check out the Zaishen Dailies and the War in Kryta content. Amazon usually sells it for about $7.50.

In PvE, E/Mo's are really popular now too.

Interrupts are stronger, you can do more damage, shut-down is easier, and you can still control the ebb and flow of a match if you're good enough. |

N/Rt healers are popular with heroes since they don't know how to use energy management too well. Soul reaping keeps em fully charged with energy all the time so they can spam away skills.
Anyway, welcome back |

Congrats on leaving the game for several years and NOT having your acct stolen then banned for whatever the acct jacker did with it.
There was a serious rash around the beginning of this year where acct jackers figured out a way to steal ppls accts, then ppl who logged into their accts after xx months / years finding them banned, and making threads here. Yeah, check out mesmers, spirit spammers, the War in Kryta content, Nicholas the Traveler, Zaishen missions and bounties, and gear up for Halloween. Darcy's advice regarding purchasing EotN and trying to knock out a few Hall of Monuments statues in order to unlock stuff in GW2 is an excellent point. Anet has stated that the exact rewards will be announced very soon, perhaps at this weekend's PAX. |

I have played alittle to get some more elite skills and figured out why I never finished - skill points. I need a lot of them, and don't know where the fastest exp is gotten anymore. |
